** Vienna officials say they expect no increase in the real estate tax rate this year, even though most other Northern Virginia jurisdictions are hiking their rates.
** The Fairfax chapter of the American Red Cross is creating 1,855 “ditty bags” for soldiers.
** Nearly 200,000 striking Bell Telephone workers are headed back to work after a settlement has been reached. The cost to the company: $2 billion in higher wages and benefits.
