Editor’s Notebook: Oh, the humanity!

Must Read

It was 43 seasons ago that “WKRP in Cincinnati” made its way into Thanksgiving legend with a classic episode and the immortal final line: “As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.”

(Not sure if the late, great Gordon Jump, who uttered that line, directed that it inscribed on his tombstone, but it would have been a worthy epitath. Kind of like Mel Blanc, who had Bugs Bunny’s “That’s All, Folks” inscribed on his.)

No doubt the full episode will be airing multiple times today, but if you just want the last five minutes, it’s embedded below. Enjoy gobbling it up, and see if you can discern the point at which actor Tim Reid (as Venus Flytrap) almost loses it to laughter.
