It’s Dec. 1, which means it’s the first day of the rest of our lives here in Sun Gazette-land … the start of our occupancy at a new office.
Well, “occupancy” is something of a misnomer; we have access to the space as of today, and have to be out of our current abode by Dec. 31, but when the physical move takes place depends largely on when telecommunications can be set up. The movers will then follow not far behind.
It’s just across the street and one block down from our current office, which after many years of planning is set to fall to redevelopment. The space is configured a little differently, so we’ll have to squeeze in our bodies somewhat haphazardly until we get used to it. But an office is an office; we are not the “work from home” types.
We will not be lonely; our next-door neighbors here at the current office are moving to the same building, even on the same floor. Good news.
TO ALL THE OFFICES WE’VE HAD BEFORE: When I first took up residency in Sun Gazette-land, the office was in Dunn Loring. Then we went to Edsall Road in the Fairfax part of Alexandria to cohabitate with the Journal Newspapers (RIP), then to Springfield, then to McLean and thence, nearly six years ago, to here in Falls Church.
A magical mystery tour, indeed …. 🙂
