A Vienna resident on April 9 reported an armed robbery in the 300 block of Cabin Road, S.E. According to the victim, he was robbed at gunpoint and the unknown suspects fled the area immediately after the robbery, Vienna police said.
After a lengthy investigation – which included interviews, photo lineups, search warrants, electronic data and assistance from residents who provided security-camera footage – police identified the suspects as Damond Albert Brown and Ilon Edward Coles Melson, both of Washington, D.C.
Vienna detectives on June 6 obtained arrest warrants charging Brown and Melson with armed robbery.
On June 22, members of the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., with assistance from Vienna police detectives, took Brown into custody.
During the search of Brown’s residence, authorities reportedly found a fully loaded firearm on the bed where he had been sleeping.
On June 28, members of the Metropolitan Police Department, again with assistance from Vienna police detectives, took Melson into custody.
Authorities on June 29 remanded Melson to Virginia, and Brown is currently awaiting the process to be sent to Virginia.
