Del. Rip Sullivan (D-McLean-Arlington) has become the latest local legislator to endorse the gubernatorial bid of Terry McAuliffe.
Sullivan, who serves as Democratic Caucus chair in the lower house of the legislature, called McAuliffe “a strong and bold leader” who stepped up in 2019 to aid Democrats in wresting control of the House of Delegates from Republicans.
“He was relentless in his efforts to help us, raising money and participating in more than 140 events throughout Virginia,” Sullivan said.
“Thanks in no small part to his help, we have been able to make historic progress during the last two General Assembly sessions.”
McAuliffe, who served as a governor from 2014-18, is seeking a return engagement by running in the June Democratic primary.
McAuliffe earlier was endorsed by all three state senators representing Arlington – Barbara Favola, Janet Howell and Adam Ebbin – as well as by one of the four delegates, Alfonso Lopez.
