This is a tale we’re going to milk for all it’s worth.
A new survey suggests that Virginia residents have a clear preference for their milkshakes.
Chocolate? Nope. Vanilla? Negative. Strawberry? Sorry, Charlie.
According to a statistical analysis of Google search data, Virginians are most enraptured by peppermint milkshakes, according to new data from RTA Outdoor Living.
The survey found that it wasn’t chocolate, vanilla or peppermint that was on the minds of people in most states, but strawberry, which was the favorite in 10 of the nation’s 50 states: California, Illinois, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.
Chocolate was tops in eight states, Oreo-crumbled milkshakes in six, minty shamrock shakes in five and vanilla shakes also in five. Also rising to the top in at least one state were chocolate malt, coffee, banana, pineapple, orange-creamsicle, Nutella, peach, peanut butter and the aforementioned peppermint.

Among Virginia’s neighbors, there was certainly an eclectic mix:
• Maryland residents went for vanilla, while Tennesseans preferred chocolate.
• Banana milkshakes were the rage in the District of Columbia.
• North Carolina residents liked Oreo milkshakes best, while West Virginians found they were almost in heaven whenever they had a frosty orange-creamsicle shake at the ready.
