Arlington County Board members on July 16 are expected to follow the recommendation of their Park and Recreation Commission and rename a soon-to-be-renovated park as “11th Street Park.”
The name fits: The park is located at 11th Street North and North Danville Street, with that intersection having served as an informal name of the park in the past.
The name change also won the support of the Arlington Neighborhoods Advisory Commission (formerly Neighborhood Conservation Advisory Commission) and Historical Affairs and Landmark Review Board. It also had the support of the Clarendon-Courthouse Civic Association.
County officials estimate the cost of placing an entrance sign at the park to be around $5,300.
