Community event to mark Fire Prevention Week

Must Read

The Arlington County Fire Department’s annual open-house events will be consolidated into a single location this year, with timed-entry tickets available.

The event, to mark Fire Prevention Week, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Fire-Training Academy, 2800 South Taylor St. in Shirlington.
The event will feature live demonstrations, static displays, fire-prevention education and live music.

“Have a plan for everyone in the home,” fire officials advised. “Children, older adults and people with disabilities may need assistance. In a fire, mere seconds can mean the difference between a safe escape and a tragedy.”

Timed tickets will provide one-hour slots at 11 a.m. and 12:30 and 2 p.m., and can be obtained at https://bit.ly/3ycELSq.
