After pursuing remote SAT-prep coursewrok through SoFlo Tutors and developing a mentor-mentee relationship with her tutor, Arlington student Sara Arango-Rojas was nominated by the tutor and received a prestigious full scholarship to Sewanee: The University of the South.
Arango-Rojas is a student at Wakefield High School, and was tutored by Kya Lin of Nashville.
“I could see that she was someone with a great mindset and a person who was amicable and easy to talk to, and I knew that she would be a great fit for the [Posse] program, Lin said.
Arango-Rojas said she was hesitant at first, but now “can’t imagine a school that’s a better fit for me than Sewanee.”
“For people who maybe aren’t sure if a scholarship is right for them, look through the opportunities thoroughly,” Arango-Rojas said. “Make sure you understand what a scholarship is asking of you and offering to you.”
It it’s a fit, Arango-Rojas said, “take that leap!”
