Delegates to the Arlington County Civic Federation will elect the organization’s 2022-23 leadership on June 14, and a panel is currently compiling a slate of candidates for consideration.
Civic Federation delegates in early March approved a four-member nominating committee that will put together the slate of officers (president, vice president, secretary and treasure) and directors for one-year terms.
Nomination-committee members are Michael Beer (Bluemont), Mike Cantwell (Yorktown), Adam Henderson (Douglas Park) and Juliet Hiznay (Columbia Heights), who will determine the slate of candidates to delegates prior to the annual meeting.
(Civic Federation rules permit nominations from the floor at the meeting, so there could be contested races.)
Current Civic Federation president Allan Gajadhar has served two one-year terms, the traditional leadership limit of the organization.
Founded at the dawn of the 20th century by six neighborhood associations, the Civic Federation has grown to include most such associations in Arlington, as well as a host of advocacy groups.
