Brothers receive Congressional Awards from Rep. Beyer

On June 1, John Golden III and Blake Golden of Arlington met with U.S. Rep. Don Beyer (D-8th) to receive the Congressional Award Silver Medal.

The honor, among other requirements, includes 200 hours of volunteer public service. Since 2019, the brothers have focused their service on food insecurity in the Washington, area. They volunteer for Arlington Food Assistance Center, New Hope Housing, and Food For All DC. They prepare and pack food and drive weekend food deliveries.

John Golden attends H-B Woodlawn Secondary Program and Blake Golden is a student at Yorktown High School.

The Congressional Award is the highest honor for young Americans from the U.S. Congress. Participants earn Congressional Award Medals by meeting goals in public service, personal development, physical fitness and expedition/exploration.
