She died three weeks earlier, but the centennial of the birth of Betty White still allowed animal-welfare agencies across the nation to raise funds.
The Animal Welfare League of Arlington received more than $37,000 from 740 donors during the “Betty White Challenge” event on Jan. 17, which would have been White’s 100th birthday. (White, a noted animal-rights activist and longtime board member of the Los Angeles Zoo, died on Dec. 31.)
The organization “is so lucky to have generous and faithful friends,” Animal Welfare League of Arlington officials said in announcing the total.
