Must Read

Friday night was an eventful evening for some local high-school basketball teams in the Sun Gazette’s coverage areas, some for the results and action that occurred and others for no action, as COVID was unfortunately the winner.

The Yorktown Patriots and Washington-Liberty Generals were supposed to play in a girls game. But the contest was postponed because of COVID concerns.

Same for the Potomac School girls team, which was supposed to compete in a two-day tournament. That did not happen because the team is on pause from playing games because of COVID issues.

On the floor, the Langley Saxons swept their biggest rival in girls and boys action, winning by wide margins over the McLean Highlanders.

Also, in another girls game, the Madison Warhawks lost for the first time this season, snapping a 14-game winning streak over two campaigns.

The Oakton High girls improved to 7-0 with another solid victory.

It was a night of stories on and off the court.
