On Dec. 3 at 2:17 a.m., police were dispatched to the 1300 block of North Barton Street, after two women reported that two males were walking closely behind them and remained close to their vehicle, making them uncomfortable to enter it.

While speaking with the woman, officers observed two subjects in the area and made contact, police said. One appeared to be under the influence and refused to comply with officers’ commands, and when he was placed under arrest for drunk in public, he became combative, police said.

The suspect – 45-year-old John Walker of Arlington – was arrested, charged with two counts of assault-and-battery on police, obstruction of justice and public intoxication, police said.
