Arlington County Treasurer Carla de la Pava has received the President’s Award from the Treasurers’ Association of Virginia, saluting her service and leadership.
The award was presented during the association’s annual conference, held in Virginia Beach. It is her second President’s Award from the organization; she also has received the Treasurer of the Year Award.
“I am honored to serve Arlington, the commonwealth and my fellow treasurers,” said de la Pava, who became treasurer following the retirement of Frank O’Leary and was elected to succeed him in 2014.
The treasurers’ association “is such a valuable resource for treasurers across the commonwealth, and I am honored to have my contributions recognized.”
Next month, de la Pava is expected to announced the county’s tax-delinquency rate, which in 2021 was 0.18 percent, the lowest among those reported by Virginia jurisdictions and marking a nearly continuous decline during the tenures of O’Leary and de la Pava. When O’Leary was first elected in 1983, the delinquency rate stood at approximately 8 percent.
