The Arlington County Police Department, in conjunction with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, will host a drug-takeback event on Saturday, April 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at two locations.
“It’s important to take advantage of this potentially life-saving program” police officials said, noting the dangers of unused or expired prescription medications falling into the wrong hands.
Items will be accepted with no questions asked at the Arlington police headquarters, 1425 North Courthouse Road, and Fire Station #5, 1750 South Hayes St.
In addition, the county government provides 24-hour-a-day prescription-medication-collection boxes at Fire Stations 2, 5 and 9 and at police headquarters. Since implementing the program in 2018, more than 8,000 pounds of medication has been safely disposed of, officials said.
