The Arlington branch of the NAACP recently was honored with two awards at the national NAACP convention, held in Atlantic City.
The local branch earned second place in its size category in the publications division and third place in its category for programming.
“Congratulations to everyone who has remained on the battlefield for social justice and civil rights here in Arlington County during some very challenging times – these awards and recognition are yours,” county NAACP president J.D. Spain Sr. said.
The national NAACP gathered in New Jersey for its 113th annual meeting. The Arlington branch traces its roots to 1940.
