APS students tapped for state jazz band, ensemble

Four Arlington Public Schools high-school students were accepted into the All-Virginia Jazz Band and Jazz Ensemble.

Olivia Van Hoey (bass) of H-B Woodlawn Secondary Program was named to the All-Virginia Jazz Band and Henry Price (trombone) of Washington-Liberty High School and Zachary Levin (tenor saxophone) and Tyler Pons (drum set) of Yorktown High School were named to the All-Virginia Jazz Ensemble.

They were among approximately 40 students from across the commonwealth selected for the honor.

A performance will be given at the Virginia Music Educators Association Conference in Norfolk on Thursday, Nov. 18 with two nationally acclaimed guest conductors, Daniel Clarke (jazz band) and Ted Nash (jazz ensemble).
